About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for a twist in Claim with the Awakeners expansion! If you already enjoy the gameplay of Claim or Claim 2, this addition introduces a new faction that will spice up your games. The core trick-taking gameplay remains, but with a special touch. After the first phase of play, where cards are contested normally, something cool happens: the already discarded cards are shuffled to form a second deck. This is where the Awakeners come into play!
In the second phase, the magic happens when you manage to win a trick using an Awakener card. By doing so, you not only secure the cards from the trick but also get a chance to draw a card from this new discard deck. This freshly acquired card goes straight into your score pile, adding an extra layer of strategy and surprise. Is it worth risking a strong card to try and capture an Awakener and secure that extra card? The decision is yours!
Awakeners doesn't radically change the Claim experience but offers a new dynamic that rewards success in tricks in a different way. It's perfect for those who want more variety and a calculated element of luck in their games. If you're looking to expand your base game with a mechanic that rewards good trick-taking performance uniquely, this expansion is a great choice. The addition is subtle, but the strategic impact can be significant, making each game a bit more unpredictable and exciting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
Do I need the base Claim game to play with Awakeners?
Yes! Awakeners is an expansion, so you need to have the base Claim game (or Claim 2) to use it.
How many players can play with this expansion?
Awakeners is for 2 players, just like the base Claim game. It doesn't change the player count.
Does it significantly increase the game's complexity?
No, the complexity remains quite low. The extra mechanic is simple to understand and doesn't overload the game.
How long does a game with Awakeners take?
The playtime is the same as the base game, around 25 minutes. The expansion adds an element without extending the time.
Is it worth it for someone who doesn't play Claim very often?
If you like the idea of Claim and want a 'little something extra' that doesn't complicate things, then yes. But if you rarely play the base game, you might not feel a huge difference.
Are there new components besides cards?
No, the expansion focuses on adding new cards with the Awakener mechanic. There are no other types of components.
