About the game
What you do in a play session
Devil Bunny Needs a Ham is a classic Cheapass title that blends fun, luck, and dark humor. The goal is simple: each player controls two sous‑chefs who must climb the side of a skyscraper represented by a rectangular grid board. Play starts at the bottom and the objective is at the top, but there’s a dotted line near the finish that marks the critical height: falling below it saves the chef, falling above means death. Along the way, there are “fear” spaces (like spiders and Wesley Snipes) that players can’t use, forcing movement toward the central columns. On each turn, the player rolls two six‑sided dice. Any result other than 6 allows moving one or both chefs forward, horizontally or diagonally upward; a 6 triggers the “devil bunny” – the bunny token jumps to the highest chef and knocks him off. If there’s another chef below, the owner can catch him, placing the token just below; otherwise the chef falls to the floor. Falling below the critical line sends the chef back to the start; falling above kills him and he scores nothing. Points are awarded based on the order of arrival at the top, and the weighted scoring can let a player with 2nd and 3rd place chefs beat one with 1st place and a dead chef. Variants include ignoring fear spaces or using three chefs per player. The 2022 boxed edition by Greater Than Games updates components while keeping the original’s wild, quick pace.
