Game Objective

In Disney Villainous: Evil Comes Prepared, you take on the role of a Disney villain, each with their own unique abilities and objectives. The main goal is to explore your villain's capabilities and figure out how to achieve your Objective story. Each Villain Guide offers inspiration with strategies and tips. The game is for 2 or 3 players, ages 10 and up, and lasts 40 to 60 minutes.

Setup

To set up the game, follow these steps:

  • Each player chooses a villain and takes the corresponding Board, Villain Mover, Villain Deck, Fate Deck, and Villain Guide, as well as a Reference Card.
  • Place your Board in front of you. Each Board contains four locations.
  • Place your Villain Mover on the leftmost location of your Board.
  • Draw an initial hand of four cards from your Villain Deck. You may look at your cards, but keep them hidden from other players.
  • Shuffle your Villain Deck and place it face down to the left of your Board. Leave room for a discard pile.
  • Shuffle your Fate Deck and place it face down to the right of your Board. Leave room for a discard pile.
  • Each player reads the Objective on their Board aloud so that all players know each villain's Objective.
  • Place the Power Tokens within reach of all players to form the Supply.
  • Determine who goes first. The first player starts with no Power. The second player starts the game with one Power. The third player starts with two Power.

Note: Yzma requires special setup of her Fate Decks and Ratigan requires special setup of his Objective, as shown in their respective Villain Guides.

Gameplay Flow

The game proceeds in turns. On your turn, you must follow these steps, in order:

  1. Move Your Villain: Move your Villain Mover to a different location. You may move to any location in your Realm. You cannot stay in your previous location.
  2. Take Actions: Each location has symbols that represent the actions you can take when you move there. For each symbol that appears, you may take the corresponding action once. All actions are optional and may be taken in any order. (See Action Types for details). During the game, actions may be covered by Fate cards. If an action is covered, it is unavailable and cannot be taken until the card covering it is moved or discarded. When an action is uncovered, it becomes immediately available and can be taken if your villain is at that location and it is still your turn.
  3. Draw Cards: At the end of your turn, if you have fewer than four cards in hand, draw from your Villain Deck until you have four. If your Villain Deck is empty and you need to draw more cards, shuffle your discard pile to form a new deck.

Note: You must wait until the end of your turn to draw cards, even if you have fewer than four cards at the start of your turn.

Next, it is the next player's turn.

Actions and How to Play

The actions available at each location on your Board are represented by symbols. You may take one action for each symbol present at the location where you moved your Villain Mover.

Action Types:

  • Gain Power: Take Power from the Supply equal to the number on your location's symbol. Power is the game's currency and is needed to play cards and activate abilities.
  • Play a Card: Play a card from your hand. You must take this action to play a card, and you may only play one card for each Play a Card symbol at your location. Most cards have a Cost. When playing a card, you must pay its Cost by returning that amount of Power to the Supply. If you do not have enough Power, you cannot play the card. Items or Allies may be played at any location in your Realm.
  • Activate: Choose an Item in your Realm with an Activate symbol. Pay the card's Activation Cost, if any, and resolve the card's Activated Ability.
  • Move an Item or Ally: Move an Item or an Ally from any location to an adjacent location. If you move an Ally, all Items attached to it move along.
  • Move a Hero: Move a Hero from any location to an adjacent location. This action does not appear on any Villain Board in this game, but may be seen if you mix games of Villainous.
  • Fate: Choose an opponent to target. Reveal two cards from the top of that opponent's Fate Deck. Choose one card to play and discard the other face up to that opponent's Fate discard pile. A Hero may be played at any location in that opponent's Realm, covering the action symbols at the top of the location. If an opponent's Fate Deck is empty, shuffle their discard pile to form a new deck.
  • Vanquish: Defeat a Hero at any location in your Realm using one or more Allies already at the same location as the Hero. The Ally must have a Strength equal to or greater than the Hero's Strength. Multiple Allies may be used by adding their Strengths together. To Vanquish the Hero, discard the Ally/Allies to your Villain discard pile. Discard the defeated Hero to your Fate discard pile.
  • Discard Cards: Discard any number of cards from your hand. Cards must be discarded face up to your Villain discard pile.

Card Types:

  • Villain Cards: Have a colored back. You play these cards from your hand, usually at the bottom of your Board.
  • Fate Cards: Have a white back. Your opponents play these cards on top of your Board.
  • Effect: Appear in both decks (Villain and Fate) and are one-time events. To play an Effect, pay its Cost (if any), do what the card says, and discard it.
  • Ally: Appear only in the Villain Deck. They represent your henchmen and helpers. To play an Ally, pay its Cost and place the card beneath any location in your Realm. Use them to defeat Heroes. Each Ally has a Strength and usually an Ability.
  • Hero: Appear only in the Fate Deck. They represent the "do-gooders" trying to thwart your plans. You generally play Heroes from opponents' Fate Decks by taking the Fate action. To play a Hero, place the card covering the top of any location in the Realm. (A Hero in Yzma's Realm must be played at the Fate Deck location from which it came.)
  • Item: Appear in both decks and have an Ability that affects other cards or actions. To play an Item from the Villain Deck, pay its Cost and place the card beneath any location in your Realm, unless the Item says to attach it to an Ally or Hero. Items from the Fate Deck are attached to a Hero.
  • Condition: Are played during an opponent's turn, without using the Play a Card action. If you have a Condition in hand and the card's requirement is met, you may play it immediately.

Activated Abilities:

Some Items have Activated Abilities, which need to be activated to be used. Cards with an Activated Ability have an Activate symbol. To use the ability, you must take the Activate action and pay the Activation Cost, if any.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends as soon as a player achieves their villain's Objective. That player is the winner!

Refer to your Villain Guide for tips on how to achieve your Objective. Some Objectives can only be achieved at the start of your turn, as indicated on the Villain Board.

Tips for Winning

  • Read your Villain Guide carefully. It contains crucial information on how to achieve your Objective and specific strategies for your villain.
  • Keep an eye on your opponents' Objectives. The Reference Card lists how each villain achieves their objective, which can help you determine if an opponent is close to victory and how to slow their progress.
  • Understand the actions available at each location on your Board. Efficiently using these actions is key to progressing toward your Objective and hindering opponents.
