About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever wondered if it's better to build an empire or just burn everything down? In Dragon vs Kingdom, you get to do both! You step into the shoes of a governor trying to expand your village while dealing with the looming threat of dragons. The twist? This is a 'pass-and-play' game. This means that in every round, you aren't just managing your own land; you also take control of the dragon on one of the maps, allowing you to incinerate your opponents' hard work to score points.
The gameplay is streamlined and fast. Using a pen-and-paper system, you draw your structures: circles for defensive towers, squares for houses, and triangles for shops. Strategy lies in the positioning; you need towers to shield your homes and shops, and these towers are your only way to roll dice and attack the dragon.
The tension ramps up as the sheets rotate around the table. One moment you're proudly expanding your settlement, and the next, you are the winged beast raining fire upon your rivals. The game ends when a dragon is defeated (hits 0 HP) or when enough buildings have been destroyed. At the end, you sum up your construction and destruction points to determine the winner. It's a perfect blend of spatial management, dice luck, and that satisfying bit of mischief involved in turning a friend's village into ash.
