About the game
Empire of the Stars thrusts you into the role of a planetary duke vying for the galactic throne after the sudden death of the last emperor. The game supports 2‑4 players, each wielding a unique asymmetric power – 30 different options – and controlling a sector of the galaxy. The core engine is an action queue: each round players pick one of seven roles (Explorer, Merchant, Steward, Engineer, Scientist, Warlord, Regent) and then everyone gets a turn to act within that role, keeping the table constantly active. This, together with a rondel that sets the cost of switching actions, yields fast‑paced, decision‑heavy play.

Exploration happens via tile placement, revealing new worlds and expanding your empire. Meanwhile, 75 exclusive technologies can be researched, affecting industry, culture, economy and military might. Combat uses a distinctive, daring system that makes battles feel exciting and consequential. Once a player captures the galactic throne, the game’s timer starts ticking: subsequent rounds resolve automatically, ratcheting up tension to the finale. In under two hours you get a full 4X experience – explore, expand, exploit resources and eliminate rivals – without the marathon sessions typical of the genre. With a light weight (2.8/5) it’s perfect for strategy fans who want depth without sacrificing a night’s sleep.
