About the game

What you do in a play session

Epona puts you in the shoes of an equestrian entrepreneur during the bustling 1920s in Central Europe, a time of prosperity and fresh opportunities. Over six rounds you’ll build your horse empire by buying land, erecting stables, hiring trainers, mechanics and other specialists, and acquiring equipment such as training arenas and race tracks. Each card added to your tableau represents an investment or resource that can generate victory points in various ways. The horses are the centerpiece: choosing which to acquire determines how you score—some grant speed bonuses, others reward lineage or the number of wins. The "I Cut, You Choose" mechanic shows up when you split a pool of cards into two piles and your opponent picks which pile they keep, creating tense negotiations and strategic choices. Hand management forces you to balance what to hold for later and what to discard. As the game progresses you can even breed new horses by combining traits, producing future champions and extra points. The game supports 1‑6 players, has a quick 10‑minute learning curve yet enough depth to keep seasoned gamers engaged. Variable set‑up ensures the board never looks exactly the same. If you love business themes, animals and puzzle‑like tableau building, Epona delivers a thematic and strategic experience that blends long‑term planning with tactical decisions each turn.
