About the game

What you do in a play session

In Fief: England, you step into the shoes of a noble family in medieval England, aiming to become the most powerful in the kingdom. This requires mastering politics by forging strategic alliances through arranged marriages, distributing titles, and convening parliament to increase tax revenue. The economy is also crucial: control mills, abbeys, and cities to secure a robust income, which can be reinvested in purchasing troops, strongholds, or even used to bribe other players and influence the game in your favor. Military strength is indispensable, with the ability to recruit knights, soldiers, archers, and crossbowmen, as well as utilize siege engines like bombards and trebuchets to conquer new territories. City control is vital, and conflicts can arise when rival families vie for the same territory. But beware, the path to power is fraught with peril: events like bad weather, famine, the Black Death, and Viking invasions can decimate your troops, destabilize your economy, and destroy your achievements. The game ends when a player reaches 3 victory points, or when two allied families accumulate 4 points. Otherwise, the game concludes after 7 rounds, and the family with the most victory points, or the alliance with the highest score, is crowned the winner. In case of a tie, the highest title held determines the champion.
