About the game
What you do in a play session
In Frieren: Replica Ruins, you and your allies are aspiring first‑class mages tasked with passing the dreaded First Class Mage Exam. The test takes place deep within the King's Tomb, a maze filled with magical replicas conjured by the evil mirror known as the Spiegel to block your progress. Each player controls a mage with a unique special ability, represented by power cards and sigil tiles that let you cast spells and manipulate the board. The game runs in action‑point turns: you spend points to move, place tiles, trigger abilities, or play strategy cards. The main goal is to destroy the Spiegel's replicas before the Replica Tracker reaches the end, and ultimately defeat the Replica Frieren herself. Defeating replicas earns victory points; the player with the most at the end wins. The cooperative nature forces everyone to coordinate attacks, share resources, and plan the order of threat elimination. Pattern‑building mechanics kick in when you arrange sigil tiles into powerful combos that unleash stronger spells. End‑game bonuses reward players who meet specific conditions, such as using all of a mage’s abilities or eliminating a set number of replicas. A typical game lasts 45‑60 minutes, supports 2‑4 players, and has a moderate learning curve, making it perfect for fans of fantasy‑themed, collaborative strategy games with resource management.
