About the game

What you do in a play session

General Orders: Sengoku Jidai puts you in the shoes of a daimyo during the chaotic 16th‑century Japan, where two factions clash over strategic territories. Each game unfolds on two boards – a land map and a waterway map – allowing you to move armies across areas and place workers to secure decisive actions. The goal is to dominate key points, protect your vulnerable HQ, and capture heavily defended forts.

Area Movement makes troop displacement smooth, while Worker Placement creates a race for limited spots – the first to place a worker claims the action, whether opening a naval route, reinforcing a supply line, or firing a siege weapon. New naval units and devastating cannons add tactical layers, forcing you to consider both land control and water dominance.

Designed by award‑winning duo David Thompson and Trevor Benjamin, the game blends the speed of a compact wargame with the tension of worker‑placement decision‑making. In about 30 minutes, two players can experience intense battles, with simple rules (weight 2.4/5) yet enough strategic depth to keep replayability high. Components are lean but premium, featuring commander miniatures, unit tokens, action cards, and two beautifully illustrated boards. Perfect for fans of fast‑paced war games, Japanese historical settings, or two‑player tactical duels where every move matters.
