About the game
What you do in a play session
In Glastonbury, you take on the role of a witch or wizard in a frantic search for the perfect ingredients for your magic potions. The modular board creates a grid where ingredient cards are laid out. The core mechanic revolves around movement: you travel around the perimeter of this grid and, upon stopping at a row or column, you pick a card. The twist that makes your head spin is that the numerical value of the card you just picked determines exactly how many spaces you will move on your next turn. It is a constant exercise in planning and, of course, memory, as you cannot peek at your stack of ingredients at all times—only the last one you collected remains visible. The main goal is to assemble sets of four matching ingredients. If you are successful, you score well; but be careful, as having only one unit of a specific ingredient can result in penalties that will ruin your strategy. This version, which is an evolution of the classic Kupferkessel Co., expands the original experience by allowing up to four players, making the competition much tighter and more dynamic. Furthermore, the game includes spell cards that add extra flavor, allowing for special actions that can change the course of the game when you least expect it. It is a light, fast-paced game that requires quick thinking, making it perfect for those who enjoy a mix of 'push your luck' and set collection mechanics. If you like fantasy games that are not too heavy on the table and offer interesting interaction without being a war game, Glastonbury is a solid choice for a casual game night with friends.
