Get ready for a journey of trade and strategy in the legendary land of Hermagor! In this game, you take on the role of an ambitious merchant, determined to become the wealthiest in the region. The city of Hermagor, once a prosperous center of trade, now depends on your cunning to rekindle its former glory, attracting adventurers and artisans with rare goods like weapons, ancient books, precious relics, and even dragon eggs. Your goal is simple yet challenging: acquire goods in the marketplace and sell them profitably in the various towns and villages across the kingdom.
The game unfolds over five rounds, each divided into two crucial phases. The first is the marketplace phase, where you and your competitors will vie for control of valuable goods tiles. To do this, you'll strategically place your agents, paying a price that varies according to location and the potential for controlling multiple items. Whoever has the most adjacent agents to a goods tile claims it, with ties broken by location priority. Your agents in the marketplace not only secure goods but also generate income based on their grouping in rows and columns.
The second phase is the selling phase, where the action moves to the map of Hermagor. Here, you'll move one of your agents, paying for each road segment traveled, to sell the goods you've acquired. But beware: each town or village can only receive one sale from you per game, so choose wisely! Mark each sales location with one of your houses, and if another player sells in a location you've already marked, you earn a small reward. Selling in all cities of a specific region can even earn you a production facility, guaranteeing immediate and end-game bonus income. At the end of the fifth round, bonuses are awarded for production facilities, the most sales along major roads, and for the smallest number of sales locations in each of Hermagor's three regions. The merchant with the most money will be crowned the wealthiest and victorious!
