About the game

What you do in a play session

High Tide is a minimalist and elegant experience for two players that turns any flat surface into a strategic battlefield. Forget traditional boards; here, you use 19 wooden hexagonal tiles—seven for each player and five neutral ones—to build the map as the game progresses. The premise is simple, but the challenge is deep: you must move your own tiles or the neutral ones so that they always stack higher than they were before. The goal is to cover your opponent's tiles while ensuring that as many of your own as possible remain visible on top by the end of the round.

With over six million possible starting configurations, every session of High Tide is unique. The stacking mechanic creates a three-dimensional area control game, where each move requires you to calculate not just your immediate gain, but how it will leave the terrain for your opponent's next turn. It is an exercise in patience and spatial awareness, where the "tide" can turn at any moment. The round ends when a player cannot make a legal move, and the first to win three rounds takes the game.

With a very short playtime, ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, it is the perfect title for a quick coffee break or to fill that dead time while waiting for the main group to arrive. The production is refined, with materials that provide a satisfying tactile feel, making every round a visual and mental pleasure. If you enjoy abstract games that challenge your brain without requiring hours of rulebook reading, High Tide is an essential addition to your two-player collection.
