About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine you are the leader of a horde of powerful creatures trying to dominate the world of Grimoor. That's exactly what happens in Hordes of Grimoor! The game is a strategic duel for two players where the goal is to expand your domain, conquer territories, and transform them into imposing strongholds to secure victory. The dynamics revolve around recruiting Cohorts (your soldiers) and utilizing Curios, which are rare items that grant scalable powers and precious points.
The game flow is very straightforward: you have a two-action point system per turn. You and your opponent alternate moves, deciding how to spend these points to escalate the conflict. Tension rises as the horde grows; as soon as someone manages to place five creatures in their horde, that Conflict ends and the dust settles for the start of the next one. The entire game is divided into three of these Conflicts. Whoever has the highest score at the end of this epic journey takes the crown of Grimoor.
The real charm here is the hand management. You need to balance when to deploy your creatures to dominate the map and when to hold onto strategic cards for the right moment. It's a fast-paced game, with matches lasting between 20 and 30 minutes, but it requires you to think through every move so you don't get steamrolled by the opposing horde. If you enjoy card games with a fantasy theme and love intense territorial 'tug-of-war' disputes, this title is a perfect fit. Just keep in mind that, depending on the version, you might need a translation for the cards to fully enjoy the experience.
