About the game
What you do in a play session
Picture a frozen world where snow and metal blend into ruins that look like an ancestral nightmare. In **The North**, you step into the role of a systems programmer, attempting to reverse the disaster the ancients created. The game has only 60 cards, but each can be used in multiple ways, giving it a combo feel reminiscent of deck-building and hand-management games. You start with a small deck and, as the game progresses, capture and reprogram Ancients—creatures that emerge from the ruins. Each Ancient brings unique abilities that can be activated to build Facilities, power Nodes, or simply reduce your opponent’s points in creative ways. The Action Points (AP) system sets a quick pace: each turn you decide how to spend your AP on actions ranging from exploring the ruin to playing card effects. The deck, bag, and pool building mechanic allows you to choose new cards from a common pool, keeping your deck constantly evolving. Hand management is crucial, as you need to decide which cards to keep for combos and which to discard to avoid wasting AP. The game is perfect for 1 or 2 players, lasts about 30 minutes, and has a moderate complexity level—ideal for those who enjoy fast strategy and tactical decisions. If you love fantasy games with sci‑fi touches, and want something that blends deck building with a tundra survival setting, The North will surprise you. Each game feels different thanks to the variable deck and multi‑use cards. Get ready to reprogram your destiny and dominate the North!
