Our Verdict
RECOMMENDED

Fans of fragmented narratives and the homemade vibe of print & play will love this one. 'In Memory' delivers a melancholic, poetic experience — like flipping through a forgotten photo album. The roll and write mechanics are simple, but the real charm lies in the gradual discovery of the story. Just don't expect a hyper-structured game: here, chaos is part of the appeal.

Highlights

  • Accessible yet engaging mechanics
  • Great value (print & play)

About the game

What you do in a play session

In 'In Memory', you've just bought an abandoned farm and, with it, pieces of the story of the couple who lived there. The goal is to dive into this narrative, slowly uncovering the secrets the place holds. The game features three 'roll and write' modes — you roll two dice to define shapes and plants that need to fit into a custom grid. The story unfolds through hidden notes, found photos, and intense flashbacks. It's a somewhat deconstructed experience, like rummaging through a box of old memories and trying to piece them together. And hey: even as a print & play, the immersive vibe is surprisingly strong!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

5 questions
How many pages do I need to print?
Depends on the mode you play, but roughly 5-10 A4 sheets (including the main grid and story cards).
Does it work well solo?
Yes! The solo experience is almost meditative — perfect for a rainy afternoon.
What's the minimum recommended age?
Due to melancholic themes, better for +12. Younger kids might find it confusing.
Do I need extra materials beyond the print?
Just pencils, an eraser, and two standard dice (D6). Optional: colored markers to spruce up the grid.
Is there a physical version for sale?
Currently only as print & play, but designers are considering a physical release.
