About the game
What you do in a play session
In the Ashes is an action‑RPG adventure that lives inside a book. Instead of miniatures and boards, everything unfolds on the pages: you draw lines, mark points and use only a pencil to move your hero, play action‑card combos and record character progression. The campaign stretches over 12+ hours of fully replayable content, featuring multiple protagonists who appear as the story unfolds, each with forbidden disciplines and unique abilities. Gameplay is driven by battle cards that dictate encounters, narrative choices that steer the plot, and movement‑point mechanics that limit how far you can travel between hand‑drawn rooms. There are no dice; randomness comes from tables and "controlled chance" sources built into the book, making it playable anywhere—train, beach or bed—without a table or app. The book hides visual easter‑eggs that grant secret bonuses, and a rune grimoire lets you boost attacks. The "open‑and‑play" design teaches rules gradually, while a full rulebook sits at the back for reference. Though designed for solo play, nothing stops a group from reading, drawing and deciding together. If you love Gloomhaven, Descent or Sleeping Gods but want something portable, deep and piece‑free, In the Ashes offers the epic dungeon‑crawler experience in a book, with tactical combat, character growth and a narrative that rewards memory and strategy.

The official text is only in English; a Portuguese translation would need to be done by the player.
