Step into the world of Ironwood, where an eternal clash for survival rages on. On one side, the Ironclad—resilient settlers from the iron mountains who rely on mechanical ingenuity. On the other, the Woodwalkers—deadly shadows of the forest fighting to protect their ancestral lands. The prize? The Larimor Crystals, mysterious energy sources that both factions crave for opposite goals.
Ironwood is a highly asymmetric tactical duel for 1-2 players. Forget the idea of mirrored gameplay; each faction possesses its own unique deck, victory conditions, and even restricted access to different parts of the map. While the Ironclad Commander focuses on extracting crystals to build massive forges and industrialize the land, the Woodwalkers' Chieftain must use magical visions to locate ancient totems and summon the Guardian of the woods to wipe out the invaders.
The core of the experience lies in the clever use of cards. Each round, players alternate playing three faction-specific cards to perform actions like positioning warbands, initiating combat, or gathering crystals. The twist? These same cards are used during combat resolution. In a simultaneous bid, you must decide whether to use a card for combat bonuses, inflict casualties, or boost your warband's Dominance value to secure victory.
For those flying solo, the game offers a low-upkeep solo mode where you can face either faction. Each AI opponent behaves according to its faction's specific traits, ensuring a unique challenge each time. It's a rules-light but strategically deep experience that rewards careful hand management and tactical foresight, making every single card play a critical decision.

Is the game too complex for beginners?
Not at all! It's designed to be 'rules-light,' meaning the basics are easy to grasp, though the strategic depth comes from how you manage your cards.
Can I play with more than 2 people?
No, Ironwood is specifically designed for 1 or 2 players. It's a pure duel.
How does the solo mode work?
You play against an 'artificial player' that follows the logic of the chosen faction, making the experience vary depending on your opponent.
How long does a game take?
Usually between 30 to 60 minutes, making it perfect for those who want a tactical game without spending the whole afternoon.
What makes the factions 'asymmetric'?
Everything! They have different decks, distinct victory conditions (forges vs totems), and even different movement patterns on the map.
