Get your ship ready and hoist the sails, because Captain Henry Morgan has decided to gather the old pirate guard for the 'Great Challenge'! In Jamaica, you take command of a ship in a tactical race around the island. But don't be fooled: crossing the finish line first doesn't guarantee victory. The game is a constant balancing act between racing to the end and detouring to loot treasures, load cargo, and steal gold from your fellow crewmates. Whoever ends up with the greatest fortune is declared the Grand Winner.
The dynamics are quite clever. Each round, the current captain rolls two dice and designates which represents 'day' and which represents 'night'. You then secretly choose a card from your hand. Each card features two actions (one for day, one for night), which could be moving the ship or loading items into your hold. The key is deciding which card to play to best leverage the dice values. What happens if you land on the same space as another pirate? It's time for a fight! Combat is resolved via dice, but if you were cautious and loaded gunpowder in your hold, your chances of winning and stealing the opponent's gold increase significantly.
The game ends when the first ship crosses the finish line, but the final score combines the gold accumulated during the voyage plus a bonus based on your final position in the race. It's the kind of game where you must decide whether to play it safe to ensure arrival or risk everything on a lucrative detour, risking being left behind. With cool miniatures and a generous dose of 'take-that' interaction, Jamaica delivers the classic piracy experience with a tactical layer that keeps everyone engaged until the final card reveal.

Is it a complex game to learn?
Not at all! The rules are simple and the day/night dynamic is intuitive, making it great for those who don't want to read massive manuals.
How long does a game last?
Usually between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on how much players decide to fight and detour.
Can it be played with few people?
Yes, it supports 2 to 6 players, but the fun increases with more people due to the battles and looting.
Is the game too dependent on luck?
There is dice luck, but hand management and the decision of when to use gunpowder provide the strategic depth.
Who do you recommend it for?
For groups who enjoy 'Take That' games and anyone who loves piracy and treasure hunting themes.
