About the game

What you do in a play session

If you thought tending the Karesansui zen garden was peaceful enough, get ready for the weeds! This expansion, 'Karesansui: Weeds,' adds a touch of chaos and challenge to your mission of arranging stones and creating harmonious displays. During setup, five wooden weed tokens go into the bag along with the stones. The twist is that when drawing stones from the bag, if you pull out a weed, it joins the pile of rocks you're currently assembling for the bid. If you win a bid and take a weed along with rocks, the fun (or despair) begins after everyone has placed their stones in their gardens. Then, you can place that weed in another player's garden! When scoring, each weed in your garden earns you a demerit card. But don't worry, there's a way out: if you place a stone in a garden where a weed is located, you can remove the weed instead of the stone. Alternatively, if you pass on a bid, you can remove all the weeds from your garden at once. Removed weeds are placed back into the bag, ready to bother someone else. It seems they just won't leave permanently! This expansion is ideal for those who enjoy Karesansui and want a bit more interaction and unexpected turns in their game.
