About the game

What you do in a play session

Khet, also known as Deflexion, creates the vibe of an Egyptian sword duel, swapping blades for laser beams. Each player commands an army of themed pieces – pharaohs, obelisks and pyramids – that move on an 8 × 10 grid surrounded by a frame housing two low‑power lasers, one per side. The goal is simple: be the first to have your laser hit the opponent's pharaoh. To achieve this, players alternate moves, repositioning pieces that may or may not contain mirrors. After a turn, the player presses their laser button and the beam travels across the board, ricocheting off mirrors until it hits a piece or exits the edge. Every shot can eliminate a piece, reshape the battlefield and open new attack lines. The game blends the predictability of chess—where each move has calculable consequences—with the unpredictability of a light‑puzzle, requiring players to visualize reflection paths before acting. High‑quality components like acrylic mirrors and laser bases give a satisfying tactile and visual feel. In about 20 minutes, two people can play multiple rounds, learning the rules quickly yet finding enough strategic depth to stay engaged. Khet is perfect for fans of abstract strategy who want something more "luminous" and interactive, and also appeals to gadget lovers who enjoy electronic board elements. Although limited to two players, the tension makes time fly, and the illuminated pharaoh victory feels like a tech‑powered triumph.
