About the game
Kolejka drops players into the chaotic queues of 1980s Polish markets, just as communism was about to crumble. Each participant leads a family trying to fill their shopping bags by sending members to various neighborhood stores. Shelves are empty, so success hinges on guessing which shop will receive a delivery each round. Delivery cards are revealed gradually, and only those nearest the door can grab the goods. To get ahead, players play queue cards – from "Mother carrying a small child" to "Back‑room stash" – which can push opponents back or block their own line. Beware, however, of cards like "Closed for inventory" or the black speculator pawns that can sabotage your plans. In addition to stores, there’s an outdoor market with steep prices unless you strike a deal with the trader. The board features wooden components and cards showing authentic communist‑era items such as Relaks shoes and Popularna tea, adding a nostalgic flavor. The game blends hand management, memory, set collection, and worker placement, creating a tense yet fun experience that demands quick planning and a dash of social cunning. Perfect for fans of historical settings who love the rush of being first in line, Kolejka offers about 60 minutes of play for 2‑5 players, with light rules (weight 2/5) and an educational glimpse into Poland’s scarcity‑driven consumer life.
