About the game
What you do in a play session
L.A.M.A. Kadabra is the latest evolution of the L.L.A.M.A. series, delivering a fast-paced card game that blends ladder climbing, action cards, and a dash of wizardry. Each game starts with six cards in hand, and on each turn you can play a card that follows the “same number or one higher” rule of the top discard, draw a card, or simply quit. The goal is to empty your hand before others or finish with the lowest score, since the player with the fewest points wins.
What changes in Kadabra? First, the double cards 2/3 and 4/5 add flexibility, playable in multiple ladder positions, but if you finish a round holding one, it counts as both numbers when scoring chips. Next, action cards inject dynamism: playing a 1 forces you to give your lowest chip to a player who hasn’t quit; rectangle cards make the next player draw before playing; star cards let you grab the blue magic chip and, in later turns, discard it to skip your turn.
The blue magic chip is worth 10 points if you keep it to the end of the round, but if you have only white chips when playing a 1, you can hand the magic chip to another player. The magic show triggers when you play a llama: each llama places the lowest chip on the magic stage, and when five chips are on stage the show begins. During a show, playing a llama adds another chip; if you can’t or don’t want to, you take all the chips from the stage and end the show.
The game ends when someone reaches 40 or more total points. The ladder-climbing mechanic, combined with action cards and chip strategy, creates quick decisions and tense moments. The humor and llama theme add extra charm, making L.A.M.A. Kadabra a fun pick for 20‑minute sessions with 2‑6 players who want something light yet competitive.
In short, L.A.M.A. Kadabra is fast, strategic, and full of surprises—ideal for quick, engaging play that still demands sharp thinking.
