Get ready for a psychedelic journey through space-time! In Lemur, you follow the saga of a primate who managed to escape the clutches of the terrible Dr. Knizia and is now wandering through colorful dimensions in search of self-discovery and vibrant hues. But don't be fooled by the relaxing visuals: the goal here is tactical survival. To win, you must be the first to shed all the cards from your hand. If you get stuck and can't play, you'll have to draw more cards, which pushes you away from victory and closer to negative points at the end.
The dynamics strongly resemble dominoes mixed with the frantic pace of Uno. Each card features combinations of numbers or the image of the Lemur himself. To play, you must match at least one of the numbers on your card with the one already on the table. The fun (or the chaos) happens with the double cards: by playing them, you can 'gift' a card from your hand to an opponent. It's the perfect opportunity to lighten your load while complicating your neighbor's life, filling their hand with unwanted cards.
Designed by the legendary Reiner Knizia, Lemur proves that you don't need a 50-page manual to have depth. It's a vibrant card game, extremely quick to explain, and perfect for those who want something light but with a pinch of competitiveness. Whether playing a single match to kill time or organizing a multi-round tournament to crown the grand champion, the experience is fluid and visually engaging. It's the kind of game that fits in your pocket but generates laughter and petty rivalries at the table, especially when someone receives that extra card just as they were about to win.
