About the game
Ever thought about playing chess, but with a twist of chaos and fate? Lux et Umbra (Light and Shadow) is a two-player strategic duel that takes the elegance of chess and mixes it with the unpredictability of dice. Here, your fate lies not just in your hands, but in what the dice decide. The game uses two custom dice: one representing Light (white) and the other Shadow (black). The result of these dice determines which square colors you can move your pieces from during each turn. If you roll Light, you can only move pieces on light squares; if Shadow, only on dark ones. If you roll a double, you get an extra chance to move a piece that lands on the rolled color!

The movement rules follow classic chess patterns: pawns can be promoted to any major piece upon reaching the last rank, and pieces move in familiar ways. However, forget about check or castling rules; here, the King is simply the most valuable piece, and the goal is to capture it or wipe out the opponent's entire army. The real challenge is risk management: if you position all your pieces on a single color, you risk being completely paralyzed if the dice don't cooperate. You must maintain a tactical balance between light and shadow to avoid being caught off guard. It is a fast-paced game of crucial decisions, where every move is a balance between your inner grandmaster and the luck of a dice roll. If you are looking for an intense, short-duration duel that blends pure logic with the tension of chance, get ready for the confrontation between light and shadow.
