About the game
What you do in a play session
Mafiozoo arrives as a re‑imagining of Rüdiger Dorn's Louis XIV, swapping mission cards for a 4 × 4 modular board that represents influential city spots. Each player runs a family of furry mobsters and, each turn, plays pairs of tokens to place their goons on the most strategic locations. The more goons you have in a square, the greater your influence there, and that can unlock new neighborhoods for expansion. Hand management is key: the tokens you keep give you options for where to expand, but also limit you if you don’t use them in time. The game blends set collection – dominating specific areas completes "influence sets" worth points – with point‑to‑point movement, as goons can only travel along the routes drawn on the board. The modular layout ensures every game feels fresh, forcing players to adapt their tactics. Despite the cute mobster theme, the mechanics stay light (weight 2.5), perfect for fans of territory‑control games that aren’t overly complex. In about an hour, 2‑4 players battle to become the supreme boss of the animal city, balancing expansion, blocking and set collection. If you enjoy games where every placement decision matters and love a fun theme, Mafiozoo offers a quick, tactical and highly replayable experience.
