About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever dreamed of being the Roman Emperor's favorite architect? In Magna Roma, you're given a glorious mission: to found the next great metropolis of the Empire. But it's not just about placing tiles randomly; the secret here is spatial efficiency. The heart of the game lies in connecting neighborhoods using city tiles. Every new tile must connect to at least one existing piece, and that's where the magic happens. Depending on the shapes that touch—semicircles, rectangles, and triangles—you generate essential resources. And if you're clever enough to match the same colors, congratulations: you double your production!
But what are these resources for? That's where the strategy kicks in. With coins and population, you erect magnificent monuments that provide necessary prestige. If you manage to gather legions, you can expand the Empire's borders by conquering new provinces to please the Emperor. Additionally, there's the pursuit of luxury goods for scoring and the attempt to gain the Favor of the Gods, which grants extra powers to boost your city. The game is a constant puzzle: you want to expand, but you need resources, and to get resources, you need perfect connections. In the end, the player who best balances urban construction with military expansion and divine faith will be crowned as Rome's greatest builder. It's a tile-placement game with medium complexity, ideal for those who love planning every move and seeing their city visually grow on the table, whether playing with friends or testing their skills in solo mode.
