Mascarade is a bluffing and hidden‑identity game that throws up to 13 players into a medieval party atmosphere. Each player starts with six coins and draws a random character card placed face‑down. The cards are briefly shown so everyone can try to memorize who is who, then flipped back over. The goal? Be the first to collect 13 coins. On a turn you pick one of three actions: announce a character – claim the power of a role even if the card isn’t in front of you; swap cards – take another player’s card, shuffle both under the table and give one back, possibly changing your identity; or secretly look at your own card to confirm who you really are. If someone challenges your claim and proves the identity by revealing the card, they take the action and you lose a coin to the tribunal. The game ends when a player reaches 13 coins or when someone runs out of coins, in which case the player with the most coins wins. Because there are more character cards than players, not all are used each game, allowing countless role combinations and strategic twists. The hidden‑role mechanic, memory requirement, and variable player powers spark endless accusations, laughter, and quick thinking, making it perfect for large groups that love chatting, bluffing, and swapping identities. With simple rules, a short playtime of about 30 minutes, and heavy social interaction, Mascarade shines at parties, casual meet‑ups, or quick sessions among friends, though it does demand constant attention to avoid being caught by the tribunal.
