About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to take the Menara tower to new heights (and maybe with a bit more wobbling!) with the Rituals & Ruins expansion. This little gem adds an extra dose of cooperative challenge to the base game, bringing new temple floors with whimsical shapes and, of course, the infamous Tears of the Gods – red and blue crystal stones that complicate your team's life.

The core of the expansion revolves around new construction plans and rituals that change the game's rules with each playthrough. There are 13 different rituals, each with its own quirks, that will require you to completely rethink your stacking and cooperation strategy. To help you (or hinder you, depending on the ritual!), there are 10 pre-defined scenarios that come with ready-made challenges, or you can mix and match the rules you like best to create your own madness.

Just like in the original game, communication is key. Before each turn, you'll still want to discuss plans and ask for advice, but now with the added pressure of the rituals and the new floors, which might have names like "The Bridge of Dangers" or "The Sun Crescent." Precision and motor coordination remain essential, as building these unstable temples requires steady hands and a good dose of luck. If you enjoy Menara and want more challenges that test your teamwork and dexterity, Rituals & Ruins is the perfect addition.

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Do I need the base game Menara to play Rituals & Ruins?
Absolutely! This is an expansion, so you'll need the base game Menara to use the new components and rules.
What exactly do the 'Rituals' do?
Rituals are cards that change the game's rules each session. They can add new conditions, restrictions, or objectives, making each game unique and more challenging.
Does the expansion add more physical components?
Yes! It brings new temple floors with different shapes and the 'Tears of the Gods,' which are crystal stones that need to be integrated into the construction, increasing the complexity and beauty of the tower.
Is it more difficult than the base game?
Generally, yes. The new rituals, floors, and the addition of crystals tend to increase the difficulty, requiring even more cooperation, planning, and steady hands from your team.
How many players can play with the expansion?
The expansion maintains the same player count as the base game, which is 1 to 4 players. The cooperative dynamic works well in all these configurations.
Is it worth it if I already like the original Menara?
If you're looking for more variety, challenges, and want to test your team's limits in Menara, the answer is a big yes! It adds substantial content and replayability.
