You know the saying 'when the cat's away, the mice will play'? That's exactly the vibe of Mmm!, but with a twist: the cat hasn't actually left; he's just lurking nearby! You and your friends play as hungry little mice who have broken into the Smith family's pantry. The goal is simple yet tense: eat all the delicious treats before the family's mean black cat catches you in the act.
Gameplay revolves around dice rolls and a bit of gambling. Each turn, you roll three dice and must place at least one on a food space that matches the symbol. Here is where the thrill comes in: if you have dice remaining, you can choose to risk it and reroll to fill more spaces. But be careful! If you roll and can't place a single die, the cat takes one step closer to the pantry. Even if you successfully place all your dice, you must quickly cover them with your mouse tokens, or the cat will still advance.
It's a fully cooperative experience, making it an ideal entry point for children into the world of board games. There is no competition between the mice; either everyone eats and wins, or the cat reaches the pantry and the game ends. A fantastic feature is the double-sided board, which provides two different difficulty levels. This ensures the game grows with the child: starting very easy for the youngest and becoming more challenging as they get older (with special rules for ages 7 and up). It's a fast-paced, fun game with just the right amount of tension to keep everyone engaged without causing stress, focusing on teamwork and the luck of the dice.
