About the game

What you do in a play session

In Monumental, you take command of a rising civilization, shaping its destiny through a city represented by a 3x3 card grid. Each activated card in your city unleashes essential resources like Science, Military, Production, Culture, and Gold, which are key to unlocking a myriad of actions. The game's twist is that you can't activate everything at once; strategic decisions are crucial each turn to choose the cards that benefit you most at that moment.

Collected resources are your passport to acquire new cards from a common market, improving your buildings, technologies, and wonders, and assembling increasingly efficient combos to boost your deck. The game progresses through eras – Classical, Medieval, and Industrial – with increasingly powerful (and expensive!) cards as time goes on. The modular central board, composed of Provinces, is where battles take place. Conquering these provinces, which initially house resource-generating barbarians, grants not only victory points but also territorial control. Whoever builds the most impressive civilization by the end of the game, besides winning, will go down in history!

Monumental offers a rich experience for those who enjoy building their game engine, managing resources, and expanding their territory, all with a touch of combat and conquest. The board's modularity and card variety ensure that each game is a new challenge. It's a game that rewards planning and adaptation, ideal for those seeking strategic depth with an engaging civilization-building theme.
