My First Bohnanza is the perfect gateway into the Bohnanza universe while also standing as a complete children’s game. The goal of each round is to collect the most Talers (the game’s currency) by the end. The deck features several bean types, each marked with a number indicating how many copies are in the game and a "beanometer" at the bottom showing how many of that bean you need to harvest for a Taler. In the junior version, four bean types have a single exchange value (e.g., five common beans give one Taler) and six types have two values, making the mechanics easy to grasp. Each player starts with five face‑up cards in a row and a beanfield board with two planting spots. On a turn, the player must plant the leftmost card in one of the fields and may plant a second if desired. Then they reveal two cards from the deck, decide to keep them or trade them with others—any traded cards must be planted immediately. To end the turn, the player draws three cards and adds them to the row. When a field contains the required number of identical beans, the player harvests, discarding the cards and taking a Taler from the stack. If the harvested cards covered beans of another type, planting can resume there. The game ends after one to three passes through the deck, depending on player count, and the player with the most Talers wins. After a few plays, you can swap the simple beanometer cards for double‑value ones, giving players a choice of when to harvest. You can also merge the two decks, introducing advanced rules such as using a bean as a Taler, paying for a third beanfield, keeping cards in hand, and prohibiting harvests with only a single card. These upgrades provide a smooth transition to the adult version while keeping the fun and light negotiation for kids 6+.
