About the game
What you do in a play session
Mysthea is a eurogame that blends hand‑building and management with area control, all set in the mysterious floating world of Icaion. At the start each player receives cards representing powers, monsters and resources; as the game unfolds you assemble your own deck, decide which cards to keep in hand and when to play them to influence the board. The board is divided into floating islands filled with anomalies and strange creatures. You move your miniatures between these zones, aim for majority or highest influence on each island, and earn victory points and strategic benefits.
Deck, Bag, and Pool Building lets you improve your card pool over time, while Hand Management forces tactical choices about when to unleash each power. Each player has unique Variable Player Powers, giving every game a distinct flavor. Controlling islands opens the chance to build strongholds and recruit armies to battle the monsters that inhabit those frontiers.
The game’s visual appeal is boosted by detailed miniatures that bring heroes and beasts to life, creating an immersive experience. Playtime runs about 90‑120 minutes, ideal for 2‑5 players who enjoy deep strategy without the heft of a heavyweight. With a weight of 3.8/5 the rules are solid yet approachable, perfect for fans of thematic eurogames with a dash of fantasy and exploration. If you love mixing card planning, area control and quality miniatures, Mysthea delivers an engaging, replayable adventure.
