Imagine a world that was once glorious but now lies in ruins after a brutal war against the Witch-King. The Empire fell, unity vanished, and all that remains are fragmented domains and deep sorrow. But there is still hope! The Rangers, tireless guardians, roam the wilderness to protect communities, hunt monsters, and recover imperial treasures. In Oltréé, you and your friends step into the boots of these heroes in a cooperative mission of reconstruction and hope.
The primary goal is to manage a satrapy (an administrative province), rebuilding its Fortress to ensure the safety and tranquility of the inhabitants. Each group receives a specific Assignment from their hierarchy — completing this task is the surest path to victory. However, it won't be a walk in the park: the game's Chronicle unfolds dynamically, introducing unexpected situations, Incidents that can bring fame to the heroes (or not!), and Problems that require immediate Ranger intervention to prevent disaster.
The gameplay blends resource management and the maintenance of the Fortress's Defense and Prestige with a strong narrative drive. You'll have to decide whether to strengthen the walls, visit villages, or venture into the unknown. A great feature is that Oltréé includes several independent Chronicles, such as 'In the Shadow of the Dragon' or 'Underground Threat,' allowing you to play short or long scenarios without the constraint of a rigid, linear campaign. Based on John Grümph's French RPG, the game is perfect for those who love the feeling of RPG progression but prefer the structure of a board game. Ready your dice, gather your party, and shout: Oltréé!

Do I need to know how to play an RPG to play Oltréé?
Not at all! The game provides all the necessary structure on the board and in the rules. If you love stories, you're all set.
Is the game very long?
It depends on the scenario. There are short Chronicles for quick sessions and longer ones for those who want to dive deep into the lore.
Can I play it solo?
The game is designed for 2 to 4 players, with group interaction being one of its strongest points.
Is the game complex?
It has a medium weight (2.25 on BGG). It's not a heavy 'euro', but it requires attention to Fortress management and event rules.
Are the missions connected?
No, the Chronicles are independent. You can pick any story to play without needing to have completed previous ones.
