Once Upon a Time is a card game that puts players' imagination at the table. Each participant gets a deck of cards featuring classic fairy‑tale elements – dragons, enchanted forests, princesses, curses, and more – plus a "Happy Ever After" ending card they aim to reach. One player becomes the Storyteller and begins weaving a tale, using cards from their hand as story ingredients. Their goal is to steer the narrative toward their own ending, but the other players can interrupt at any moment by playing a card that fits the current story. When they succeed, they take over as the new Storyteller and continue from where the plot left off. The game runs in real time, with no formal turns, creating a lively, laugh‑filled atmosphere. The first player to discard all their cards and finish with their ending card wins. The second edition (1995) expanded the card set, and the third edition (2012) refreshed the artwork with Omar Rayyan's illustrations, added new symbols and streamlined the rulebook.
