About the game
What you do in a play session
In One for Sorrow you step into the shoes of a Cunning Folk, a guardian of the magpies who defends the forest. An ancient foe, the Spectre of Sorrows, has returned, intent on destroying everything that the black‑feathered creatures symbolize. Your job is to line up the magpies in perfect order, harnessing their power to banish the spectre and save the woods. Every move feeds the spectre’s fury, bringing ruin closer. If the forest falls, the game ends. The game lasts just 15 minutes and is played solo, but the tension is real: you must plan your cards carefully because each decision can accelerate or delay the spectre’s vengeance. The deck, printable at home, contains cards representing the birds, the spectre’s events, and combat options. The game blends hand‑management, where you decide when to use, discard or trade cards, with a move‑through‑deck mechanic that reveals new cards each turn. The fantasy theme and puzzle element add depth, demanding that you think ahead and adapt. The experience is quick yet challenging, and the feeling of fighting a supernatural foe is intense. Players who enjoy fast card games with a strategic and fantasy narrative will find a home in One for Sorrow. The product requires no table, making it perfect for travel or playing anywhere. If you want a solo game that tests your patience and reasoning in an epic setting, this title is a solid pick.
