About the game

What you do in a play session

In the year 1010, after the fall of Bosparan, the Kingdom of Raul is on edge: Emperor Hal vanished during a hunt in the Bornland. While heir Brin of Gareth sets out to find his father, the capital is torn by the ambitious noble Answin, who seeks the throne. Seizing the chaos, massive orc hordes from the Middle Kingdom surge forward, led by the fearsome Aikar Brazoragh, chosen by the orc gods. Thousands of midnight‑furred warriors ravage Aventuria, spreading fire and death. Prince Brin gathers the few remaining defenders to face the invasion and try to secure the imperial city of Gareth. In the game, each player takes on the role of one of the characters left in the capital: they may back the usurper Answin, the rightful heir Brin, or try to steer the battle more neutrally. Players' choices shape the story’s outcome, as each faction has direct effects on the ending. Orkensturm blends cooperative and team‑based play, allowing groups of 3‑8 to work together or oppose each other on the same board. Over 200 cards, eight colored tile sets, and a large illustrated board by Nadine Schäkel bring the Das Schwarze Auge world to life. Variable Player Powers give each participant unique abilities, while cooperation and team strategy create tense, camaraderie‑filled moments. Its light weight (2/5) makes it accessible for larger groups without sacrificing immersion in a medieval fantasy setting. Perfect for fans of epic adventures and anyone who loves deciding a kingdom’s fate amid an orc invasion.
