About the game
What you do in a play session
In Panic on Wall Street! you step into the shoes of a cut‑throat capitalist, ready to outwit rivals and become the season’s mogul. Players split into managers (the company owners) and investors (the shareholders). The game runs for five cycles – representing five months – and the goal is straightforward: have the most cash in your side by the end of the fifth cycle.
The most frantic part occurs during the first two minutes of each cycle: managers and investors face off in a free‑for‑all negotiation, racing against a sand timer. Investors propose the prices they’re willing to pay for company shares, while managers try to squeeze the best possible deal. When the timer runs out, the deals are locked in.
Next comes the dice roll. The result can dramatically shift the values of the four property colours, mimicking market volatility. Investors collect income from the shares they bought, but they also risk losses if the economy takes a nosedive. Meanwhile, managers collect rent, pay upkeep fees, and may buy new companies at auction, expanding their empire.
The game is quick (30‑45 minutes) and supports 3‑11 players, making it ideal for large groups. Real‑time play and the lack of a traditional turn order create a frantic atmosphere where rapid decisions are worth gold. Although player elimination is possible, the fast pace usually keeps everyone in the game until the end. If you love economics, intense bargaining, and the adrenaline rush of a volatile market, Panic on Wall Street! serves it all in a light, fun package.
