About the game
What you do in a play session
PARKS Memories: Mountaineer is a strategic matching game for 2 to 8 players that runs about 30 minutes. The board starts as a grid of face‑down tiles, each depicting one of the United States' most mountainous national parks. Every turn follows four easy steps: flip two tiles, choose one to place in front of you, add a new tile to the grid, and lock a tile with the hiker token. The goal is to be the first to collect three matching sets of park tiles in front of you. The fun comes from the unique player abilities that trigger when you uncover PARKS resource icons, adding a layer of strategy beyond pure memory.
The game offers several play styles: head‑to‑head, team‑based, or a stripped‑down memory‑only version perfect for younger gamers. You can also expand the grid for a tougher challenge. Mountaineer’s exclusive abilities fit neatly with the other two PARKS Memories editions, which together showcase every U.S. national park. With a light weight (1.5/5) and straightforward rules, it works well for families, friends, and anyone who enjoys a nature‑themed experience without heavy complexity. If you like memory games or set collection, you’ll find the flow smooth and the artwork of the parks delightful.
