About the game
PEAS is a two-player showdown that unfolds in a trick-based setting, where each round carries a point value ranging from –2 to +3. On your turn, you may choose any trick to play. If you are the second player to place a card in the chosen trick, you must follow the suit of the card already there, if possible. The first player to start the first trick leads the round, but if no one does, it resolves as usual. The ultimate goal is to be the first to win two tricks, and each trick gains or loses points based on its assigned number. The game is short, with 30‑minute sessions, and the must‑follow‑suit mechanic creates tension and strategy, as you need to anticipate opponents’ moves and pick the best card for each situation. Even with just two players, strategic sparring emerges quickly, since the play order changes each trick. PEAS has a minimalist design, but the decision of where to place each card can alter the course of the game. If you enjoy card games that demand attention to detail and memory of what has already been played, PEAS is a fun and challenging pick. The negative scoring on some tricks adds a risk element: sometimes it’s worth the gamble to avoid losing two tricks in a row.
