About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for a super special sea adventure with Captain Mindful's Mission, a Hungarian educational game that will have kids aged 3 to 12 navigating their emotions! Created by psychologist Bagdi Bella and pedagogue Veres-Lukács Lilla, and inspired by the Pillanatkapitány book series, this game is pure fun and learning for up to 6 players or teams. The goal is to help children develop emotional regulation, attention control, and self-control in a playful and engaging way.
How does it work? Little sailors move their pawns around the board by rolling a die. Landing on a game field space, they flip a disc and draw a Game Field Card, which presents a quick mindfulness or emotional regulation challenge. Reached one of the thematic islands? That's where things get deeper! An Island Card offers a more in-depth activity, focusing on skills like impulse control, empathy, focus, or emotional expression. Each successfully completed challenge earns an Island Seal, which is recorded in their Ship Log and stored in their personal Treasure Chest. And the coolest part: you can earn seals by helping friends, encouraging cooperation!
The game ends when all islands have been visited or when one player fills their Treasure Chest with the required number of Island Seals. Whoever has the most seals at the end wins! In case of a tie, the variety of seals collected decides. The game comes with a complete booklet, full of rules, tips for parents and educators, and even guidance on adapting the game for therapeutic or classroom settings. The components are a showstopper: board, die, pawns, treasure chests, ship logs, discs, and many cards to ensure hours of fun and growth!
