About the game
What you do in a play session
Pizza Theory is a pure‑strategy showdown for two or three players, where the only randomness comes from a secret 1‑to‑6 die pick. Each match begins with every participant receiving a wooden pizza cutter, a die, and 16 topping tokens of their colour. At setup each player places two toppings on the X‑marked spots on the board. Rounds consist of two steps: first, the chefs take turns dropping a topping onto any space that isn’t orthogonally adjacent to another of their own; then each secretly selects a number on the die, reveals simultaneously and puts their cutter on the matching square. The three cutters slice the board into up to 216 possible sections. In each slice, the player with the most toppings claims the area, replacing opponents’ pieces with their own. Two‑way ties remove the third player’s toppings without replacement; a three‑way tie leaves everything unchanged. A protection rule states that if a player has at most one topping in a slice, those pieces can’t be removed or swapped that round. The goal is to be the first to place all 16 of your toppings on the board. In a two‑player game the third colour’s cutter and toppings are still used, alternating between the two players; if the 16 “ghost” toppings fill the board before anyone finishes theirs, both lose. The game runs 10‑15 minutes, has a light weight (1.6/5), and demands spatial thinking, area control and reading opponents’ intentions, all without luck. It’s ideal for fans of quick decisions, influence battles, and a tasty pizza‑themed atmosphere.
