About the game
What you do in a play session
Pogs is the iconic cap‑flipping game that originated on Hawaiian beaches, using milk caps as the playing pieces. Each player brings their own stash of caps – the "pogs" – and at least one "slammer", a heavier disc made of metal or plastic. The goal is straightforward: stack an equal number of pogs (usually one) face‑down, toss the slammer onto the pile, and if you manage to flip the caps, you keep them. Every pog that lands face‑up goes straight into the thrower's collection, growing their pile. Turns alternate, with players replenishing the stack until someone runs out of caps or decides to quit. A single round lasts only one to five minutes and can accommodate two or more players, as there is no strict upper limit. The rule that everyone adds the same number of pogs keeps the stack from ballooning, preserving balance. Because slammer weight varies, throwing skill and raw strength become decisive, making the game a test of action and dexterity. While the mechanics are simple, there’s a hint of strategy: when to use a heavier slammer, how many caps to add, and which colors or designs opponents have already collected. The collectible nature of the caps fuels trading and bargaining, adding extra charm to the nostalgic pastime. Perfect for parties, school breaks, or anyone craving a quick reflex duel, Pogs blends nostalgia, light competition, and the joy of building a personal collection of colorful pieces.
