Pulp Detective is a card and dice game built for 1‑2 players that delivers a 20‑30 minute rush of mystery. The goal is simple: find four clues before time runs out and then confront the criminal threatening the heiress. To do this you need a 36‑card investigation deck, four yellow dice (Investigate), a red Paperboy die, a gray Underworld Connection die, and eight wooden cubes that track time. The game is split into three phases. In the Storyline phase you move the cube on the time card, shuffle the deck, draw three cards and pick one to be the current storyline card – the others are discarded or returned to the deck. Each card has a letter indicating its type: I (Informant), C (Cliffhanger) or F (Follow a Lead). In the Investigation phase you look at the current hour and find the matching circle on the storyline card. Then you roll the yellow dice (and, if you have special items, the red and gray dice) trying to match the icons on the card. If you succeed you earn the reward in that row; if you fail you lose stamina, time or an item. You can also use “Twist” cubes that represent icons already resolved to help the match. Once four clues are collected the Confrontation phase begins. You draw the final investigation card, compare its icons with those on the criminal card and roll the dice again, following reroll rules based on the remaining time. If you match you solve the case and save the heiress; if not you lose and the game ends. The game blends dice‑rolling, icon resolution, and time‑management in a pulp setting, with a touch of “push your luck” that keeps the tension high. It’s quick, has light components, and can be printed at home, making it a great pick for fans of short mysteries who love the adventure‑magazine vibe.
