About the game
What you do in a play session
Hop aboard the 19th-century American railroad gold rush in Railroad Revolution! Here, you're not just a passenger, but the commander of your own railway company, in a fierce race to connect the United States from coast to coast and, of course, get filthy rich in the process. The game throws you right into the middle of this frenzy, where building railroads, establishing stations in connected cities, and expanding telegraph networks are the keys to success. Every action counts towards increasing your company's value, but pay attention: the secret lies with the workers! You start with a basic team, but soon you can hire specialists who change the cost and effect of each task. Promoting some to management positions is essential to fulfill objectives, but this means less active labor. The trick is to choose who to promote and who to keep active, as your priorities change each round. Railroad Revolution is fast-paced, with easy-to-learn rules, but don't be fooled: the decisions are deep and challenging. Having a good strategy and knowing the right time to implement it is what separates tycoons from mere passengers. Prepare to build an empire on rails!

Quick answers before you buy
What is the complexity of Railroad Revolution?
It's considered a medium-weight game. The basic rules are simple, but the strategic decisions on how to use your workers and fulfill contracts can be quite challenging.
How many people can play?
The game is for 2 to 4 players and works well at all counts. The 2-player version has adjustments to keep the competition tight.
How long does a game take?
A game typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the number of players and their familiarity with the rules.
Do I need to know English to play?
No! The game has very little text on the main cards and components. If you have a translated rulebook or a good summary, you can play it easily.
Is this game more about strategy or luck?
It's predominantly strategic. Luck plays a small role in drawing contracts and the order actions become available, but planning and adapting your strategy are much more important for winning.
Who is this game recommended for?
It's a great choice for those who enjoy route-building games, worker placement, and have an interest in railroads or economic development themes. Players looking for good depth without taking all day will enjoy it.
