Have you ever considered that coral reefs are essentially the underwater metropolises of our planet? Despite covering less than 1% of the ocean floor, they support about 25% of all marine life. Unfortunately, these vibrant cities are fading due to climate change, rising sea temperatures, pollution, and overfishing. This is where you come in! In Reef Project, you take command of a scientific vessel on a noble mission to save these fragile ecosystems.
In this game, you step into the shoes of a dedicated researcher and ocean savior. Your journey involves sailing the seas, hiring a top-tier crew, and exploring coral reefs to purge pollution and restore their former glory. The core gameplay revolves around a critical decision each turn: Recharge or Travel. Choosing to Recharge allows you to claim rewards from the Victory Point (VP) track. Choosing to Travel, however, opens up a world of action: you can move your ship, deploy Reef Balls to aid coral regrowth, play mission cards, and perform various tactical actions to establish influence and collect sets.
It's not just about cleaning the ocean; it's about efficiency and planning. You'll need to manage your resources and plan your point-to-point movements carefully to complete as many missions as possible. The game reaches its climax when a player crosses the 45 VP threshold, triggering the final round. After one last turn, final scoring determines who the ultimate ocean savior is. With variable player powers and a dynamic set-up that changes every session, Reef Project blends deep strategy with an urgent environmental theme, turning ecological conservation into a compelling tactical challenge.
