In Reforest, you step into the role of an ecologist dedicated to restoring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest forests. The goal is to create the most vibrant and healthy ecosystem possible by cultivating a variety of plants that work in harmony. On each turn, you have two options: either gather new cards from the deck or a communal selection of plants, or play a plant into your forest. To plant, you'll use other cards from your hand as 'nutrients', discarding them to pay the cost. The trick is that space is limited, but taller plants can be grown over pioneer species at a reduced cost. Each plant added not only earns you points but also activates abilities that connect with others, building your ecological engine. At the end of each round, when the plant deck runs out, an animal visitor arrives to inhabit the forest that best meets its needs – think of who offers the most flowers or fruits! The game ends when all visitors have found a home, and the final score comes from the plants you cultivated and the animals you attracted. With medium-complexity rules and a touch of engine-building, Reforest is a relaxing and rewarding experience, perfect for those who enjoy environmental themes and clever mechanics like hand management and multi-use cards.
