About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a scientific expedition without leaving your table with Subastral! In this strategic card game, you and your friends become researchers exploring the eight incredible biomes of our planet: from scorching deserts to icy tundras, including savannas and tropical rainforests. The goal is simple: collect cards representing your notes on these environments and their creatures. Each card shows a biome type and a number. On your turn, you play a card onto one of the central clouds, then choose to take a pile of cards from an adjacent cloud. If you take to the left, you add the cards to your hand; if you go to the right, they go directly into your research "journal." The trick is to manage your hand and decide when to expand your knowledge (by collecting more cards) and when to record your findings (by adding them to your journal). At the end, scoring comes in two ways: the two biomes with the most cards in your journal earn bonus points, and you also form sets based on the order in which you collected the biomes. It's a quick game with easy-to-learn rules, but it makes you think about each move. Perfect for those who enjoy environmental games with a touch of set collection and hand management, all within about 30 minutes. Your scientific expedition is about to begin!
