About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for a wild race for legendary heroes in Rent a Hero! In this fast-paced and fun card game, each of you takes on the role of an aspiring hero trying to assemble the best possible team. The goal is simple: be the first to recruit six out of the seven unique heroes available. Each hero not only counts towards your collection but also possesses a special power that can be used once to turn the game in your favor.
The challenge? You don't directly choose which heroes to pick. Each turn, you'll pass a card from your hand, face down, to the player next to you. That player can decide whether to add the hero to their collection or pass it on. But beware: if you take a hero you already have, both cards go to the discard pile, a painful setback! To make things tougher (or better, depending on your perspective!), each round has specific rules dictating which cards can be passed – perhaps only even numbers, or numbers below a certain value. This adds a layer of strategy and bluffing, as you need to think not only about what you want but also about what others can or cannot pass.
With a playtime of 20 to 30 minutes and playable by 3 to 5 people, Rent a Hero is perfect for kicking off game night or for quick matches among friends. It's a light game with low language dependency, guaranteeing plenty of laughs and tense moments as you try to guess your opponents' intentions and complete your hero collection before anyone else. If you enjoy card games with a touch of deduction and interaction, this fantastic adventure is for you!
