About the game

What you do in a play session

Rod Hockey is that arcade classic that turns your table into a miniature hockey rink. With steel rods and sliding players, you and your opponent control five players and a goalie each, trying to score with a puck that bounces off the sides. The mechanics are simple: twist the rods to move players and shoot the puck, but mastering angles and pass strength is where the fun lies. You can play against the clock or to a set score, and each version of the game (over 50 years of evolution!) has its quirks—from the old gear system (which broke easily) to the curved springs that added durability and a unique 'shot' style. There's even a 'home ice' advantage: whoever's used to the board knows exactly how the puck bounces and where the best scoring angles are!
