About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to return to the Woodland with the Root: The Homeland expansion! This beauty adds three new factions and two new maps to make your Root even more chaotic and fun. Meet the Lilypad Diaspora, a people seeking a home but finding themselves in the midst of a civil war, striving not to become too aggressive in their pursuit of safety. They are masters of negotiation and manipulation, using their weapons to ensure no one underestimates them. The Twilight Council, on the other hand, prefers debate over battle; they gather everyone in the Woodland to try and end the conflict, focusing on political connections and edicts that change the game's rules. Think assemblies and plenty of diplomacy (or lack thereof!). Lastly, we have the Knaves of the Deepwood, a mysterious band living off raids and kidnappings, all in the name of ransom. They are masters of 'take that,' bringing an element of unpredictability to the forest. With new mechanics and strategies, this expansion promises to shake up the board, offering more depth and replayability for fans of the base game. Prepare for more intrigue, more conflict, and more cute (and dangerous!) animals dominating the Woodland.
